Hive History
Before official founding of Hive Studios we were a group of independent developers who worked individually and occasionally cooperated on some projects. We were among the first Certified Solution Developers in country and as such worked as trainers at CTEC centers in Belgrade. At one point in time we felt a need for new challenge which will give us more space and opportunity to raise our professional activity to the next level. For that purpose Hive Studios was created, in February 2003, as company envisioned from start as a center for developing complex mission critical software solutions for clients from all around the world.
Hive Name and Philosophy
We choose a name “Hive Studios”, a two word phrase. Hive – a busy organized place - stands for our view at how one organization should function. There can be no improvisations on a project. Every member of a team has his place and precise plan of activities and time limits. On the other hand, a studio - an artist's workroom in which new ideas are forged – stands for our view about what is the driving force of development – feeling of creative freedom that every developer knows very well. We believe in that mixture of creative freedom and precise organization. That approach to software development has been proven in our practice so many times that we have integrated it as a core principle in our organization.
Hive Life So Far
Past two years have been very productive for us. Running a company and surviving in the market was harder than we originally expected but we have managed to do a number of projects and services and keep our customers satisfied. We have positioned ourselves on the local market and are now looking for ways to expand our business.
Hive Work Methodology
Hive Studios is using MSF principles in all disciplines of project management but there can be no single software development process that fits all projects. After more then 15 projects we have refined ‘our implementation’ of MSF scaled down for small projects. We are keeping close look on MSF for Agile Development and customization opportunities that it will bring to small teams.
